I enjoyed Gail Simon’s Writing as Talk. Anyone who know me through both writing and talking with know why. I was asked during my doctoral defense whether I might have preferred a defense performed through writing such as a chat program. “Absolutely!” I said. “This is like walking on crutches. I feel handicapped.”
I’m happy to be following this endeavor. Some people I admire a lot are involved. Congratulations on all the work to get it up and running online. Who knows, maybe you will see a contribution from me and Jill.
Really appreciated the dialogue between Sheila and Malina. Some “heavy” questions were posed by Malina, and some very helpful answers given by Sheila. One can learn the rather elaborate linguistic “dance steps” required to deal with issues of voice, multivocality, silences, Truth and truth,
utility, flexibility, “knowing and not knowing” and postmodern approaches to collaborative work.
I enjoyed the Q&A with Malena Braun and Shiela McNamee. I consider those questions often, particularly when I encounter what I experience as a forced dialog format.
Yes, felt the same as Mary Gergen about the dialogue between Sheila and Malina. It encapsulates the important pieces of SC and collaborative dialogue in a way that might help me to explain why I won’t engage in polarizing discussions and trendy categorizations (e.g. Ken Wilbur, Steiner), quite popular today.
